Dungeons & Dragons (Also known as D&D or DnD) is a fantasy tabletop or online role-playing game (RPG) originally designed and published in 1974 by Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson.
Its actually a really fun game and I was surprised I was really enjoying it. I think for years when games are stereotyped and made fun of in social media, tv and movies theres a certain stigma created against it. I am glad that I have been able to play with a few guys who are so understanding and patient.
Its different to a normal game as there are no victory conditions, no time limits and it's co-operative.
When playing Ive been playing with a small group of guys, I was invited into the game by my friend Nikkie from the DIX group, he is the Dungeon Master (DM), they organize and narrate the story and bring life to the characters creating twists and turns to make the game exciting!
The game of DnD is a world of magic and wonder, where you must think how your character would think in the situations.
My Character
I generally play a melee fighter when video gaming and when I was invited to play DnD online, I had to create a brand new character for this campaign. I wanted to play either a human or an elf and there are several classes you can choose (Warrior/Cleric/Paladin/thief etc)
I decided on an Elf Paladin, a holy priest warrior. I wield a sword, shield and have a few javelins! Its a basic character with a very basic character. He is a young, inexperienced warrior who now is travelling with a mercenary group when we begin the story.
As it turns out the Paladin has turned out to be very strong in certain situations, we had the option of creating new characters for the next campaign but I have decided to keep the same character to level him up and flesh out the backstory a bit more.
Id highly recommend DnD to anyone!! I was skeptical at first after everything Id heard coming into the game, I watched a documentary called Dwarvenaut!! Check it its about a team in America who make the full blown DnD models. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt5170428/
It made me want to play the game and to be honest ive said before the guys have been brilliant and patient and supportive - Cannot wait for the next campaign to play as my character Vann Stormwind we got to change him up a bit as a few months have passed since the end of the last campaign.
If it is a case of creating new characters, I now know what to do with DnD I've got a few ideas waiting in the pipeline - Once which made a few of my DnD friends laugh!!

I would love to try the board game version again, however in this modern age we use ROLL20, a very handy free website that allows us to use a digital board and allows us to automatically roll dice and play online using Skype or Teamspeak!!
We've been playing the Lost Mine Of Phandelver campaign were me and the group I'm playing online with have been joined as a group of mercenaries to follow Gundren Rockseeker and his men, we have all been brought together and after Gundren is kidnapped we have set upon a journey to find Gundren and his men and discover what has happened and who had kidnapped them.
So we started back in October and have now only completed it on the 24/04/2017!! Which I have thoroughly enjoyed. The thing that has made the entire experience better is my new friends who have been understanding, patient and have helped me throughout!!
We actually completed our campaign in April!! Since completing we are now doing a brief of our adventure and will be levelling up characters cleaning up profiles and abilities ready for the next campaign!! Tuesday for me in my house is DnD night like a religious holiday - Currently my week compose of DnD night, Gaming night and Sunday's potentially Warhammer Sunday!!!So we started back in October and have now only completed it on the 24/04/2017!!
