The Meg DLLorenzo review

So I saw this recently and was expecting something horrible, overly clichéd and something that shouldn't be on the cinema screen. What I got was an entertaining, funny and sometimes tense shark movie, definitely worth checking it out!

So the movie that sounds like a B movie rip off! The Meg is another shark movie however it is  actually a good shark movie! A simple plot, a Megalodon somehow survives the iceage, now its terrorising the open seas! Jason Statham plays Jonas Taylor, a retired deep sea rescue response who's tormented by a chance encounter 5 years ago with what he thinks may have been a similar creature and is brought in to help when issues start to arise!
Now there is actually a book series called The Meg done by Steve Alten which I may read as its different from the movie plot and there seems to be 2 books, The Meg and The Trench. If I get a chance I will try read these and review but back to the movie!

The movie delivers on a silly summer style movie and delivers on the action scenes! Like the Jaws movies you feel like the Shark movies have been overly done and not much left to take from them. However The Meg is unpretentious it knows it can take the mickey out of itself and was a breath of fresh air from the cringey Sharknado movies! Jason Statham was actually relatable and funny something you rarely see from him in movies like The Transporter.

DLLorenzo gives The Meg 4/5! An entertaining and silly underwater adventure, with laughs and tense shark action! B movie done right!
