Live Action Transformers movie review

Live Action Transformers movie review

So with the up and coming Bumblebee movie out in December, I thought I'd finally tackle Transformers: The Last Knight as I'd never seen it and really wanted to watch all of the movies as its been a few years since I saw Age of Extinction and the other movies. Fully recommend watching through all the movies as they arent that bad collectively.

So I bought the collection for £10 on Amazon...(just DVD not the bluray) and watched through them all and they all bring something different to the universe but hope that with the new "reboot" we may get the family friendly focused movies based on the Transformers, that we transformers fans have been crying out for!

Furthermore hopefully we don't have the mad mass of CGI fidely widelyness on screen as we're not sure what on earth we are looking at! So Autobots let's roll out!

Transformers (2007) The first live action movie of the Transformers, The movie features Sam Witwicky, a plucky teenager who just wants a cool car, but gets more than he bargained for. The beater he and his father take home is actually Bumblebee, an alien robot from the planet Cybertron, who plants Sam down in the middle of a civil war between Bumblebee's benevolent Autobot comrades and the evil Decepticons who threaten the galaxy's peace. Both sides are after the All Spark, a mysterious artifact that landed on Earth ten thousand years ago. The approaching robot-against-robot battle is a coming-of-age moment for Sam, who learns the meaning of his family's motto, "No sacrifice, no victory."
DLLorenzo: So I remember when the original first dropped as I was 18/19 and Linkin Park dropped their album "What I've done". This was a good movie, yes some unnecessary scenes but this set up the Transformers universe to grow! DLLorenzo gives it 4/5!

Revenge of the Fallen (2009) 2/5
Taking place two years after its predecessor, the plot revolves around Sam Witwicky, who is caught in the war between two factions of alien robots, the Autobots, led by Optimus Prime and the Decepticons, led by Megatron. Sam is having strange visions of Cybertronian symbols, and being hunted by the Decepticons under the orders of an ancient Decepticon named The Fallen, who seeks to get revenge on Earth by finding and activating a machine that would provide the Decepticons with an energon source, destroying the Sun and all life on Earth in the process
DLLorenzo: This movie started off brightly when I heard that Devastator would appear, however the movie is even more lighter in tone than the first and jokes come aplenty but arent funny. Furthermore adding 2 goofy transformers brothers and not focusing on the plot does not help the Transformers movies.

Dark of the moon (2011) 3/5
Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf) and his new girlfriend, Carly (Rosie Huntington-Whiteley), join the fray when the evil Decepticons renew their longstanding war against the Autobots. Optimus Prime (Peter Cullen) believes that resurrecting ancient Transformer Sentinel Prime (Leonard Nimoy), once the leader of the Autobots, may lead to victory. That decision, however, has devastating consequences; the war appears to tip in favor of the Decepticons, leading to a climactic battle in Chicago.
DLLorenzo: This movie was refreshing and had a little more of a darker story which I liked but Shia LaBeouf should have been more of a bit part and should have brought in some other characters.

Age of Extinction (2014) 3/5
After an epic battle, a great city lies in ruins, but the Earth itself is saved. As humanity begins to pick up the pieces, a shadowy group emerges to try to take control of history. Meanwhile, an ancient and powerful new menace sets its sights on Earth. A new group of humans, led by Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg), helps Optimus Prime (Peter Cullen) and the Autobots rise up to meet their most fearsome challenge yet: a worldwide war of good versus evil.
DLLorenzo: A sort of reboot with Mark Wahlberg as the new Sam Witwicky and some added characters thrown in, a sort of darker story. Enjoyable but far too long.

The Last Knight (2017) 2/5
Humans are at war with the Transformers, and Optimus Prime is gone. The key to saving the future lies buried in the secrets of the past and the hidden history of Transformers on Earth. Now, it's up to the unlikely alliance of inventor Cade Yeager, Bumblebee, an English lord and an Oxford professor to save the world.
DLLorenzo: Interesting and crazy as it throws new history into the Transformers movies but also confuses matters and throws up more questions. The Final scene is so haphazard and CGI madness gone mad. A reboot is definetly needed.

And in 2018 The Transformers reboot Bumblebee drops I will probably go and try to catch this new reboot as I have seen they have redesigned all of the Transformers similar to their Generation 1 forms from the original animated television series. It feels like they have learnt their lessons from the previous Transformers movies so we wait to see what happens.......wait on a review!!
