Marvel's Spider-man DLLorenzo review

Marvel's Spider-man DLLorenzo review

So I decided to preorder this game the minute I saw gameplay at E3 2017, a Marvel Spider-Man game in the same form as the Batman Arkham games except you can swing across New York seeing familiar locations and little Marvel easter eggs. Im usually a Batman kind of Guy but I have much love for the web swinging superhero!

The Good:
The game is a beautiful looking game, very similar to the Arkham Games and follows Arkham Knight with Spider-Man being a huge open world that you can run, jump dive and web swing across a beautiful busy New York City. Web-swinging through the city (which entails swinging, dashing forward, doing cool tricks in the air, running up and along walls and zipping to perches) is glorious. There's nothing quite like it in modern video games. In many ways it's the high-definition sequel to 2004's Spider-Man 2 and shares many of the same systems but it also includes a brilliant fighting mechanism which is similar to the Arkham games, you can either use stealth to beat your enemies or go all guns blazing with some brilliant abilities and moves to take out the villains of the game. You can also change costume in game without having to go back to a menu like Arkham Knight and can change your power ups regarding the situation!

I loved the Spider-Man story which had me hooked. The story for me was brilliant and doesnt follow any specific storyline in the comics or movies and has been created especially for this game, it has its own universe with changes to characters which are explained throughout the story. I enjoyed all the little extras that have been packed into the game were a delight! Lots of content thrown into this game such as collectibles, costumes, events and activities. The boss fights are streamlined and look gorgeous. I even enjoyed the Quicktime events which a few people had a grumble about, its fun and has appeared in many games over the years.

The Bad:
Barely found anything bad about the game, only little things such as the people of New York are automatically generated and look similar. The DLC's so far seem to be a bit expensive for the content so will wait and see as I havent bothered with the DLC's I would love to see additional finishing moves added and even more content behind the scenes

NOT REALLY A SPOILER:
The games story finishes quite openly with changes happening near the very end setting up for a new story but I believe it is extended further with the incoming DLC's and it has been confirmed Spider-Man 2 is in production. Another preorder for the spiderfan when it is announced!

UPDATE
25/01/2019 So finally I have completed the original game and completed all the trophies and have platinumed the game, I then also proceeded to purchase the DCL's and work through them. I have now completed all three of the DLC's and the activities and trophies. All I need to do now is finish the +new game and complete the ultra difficulty.

pictures and gameplay to follow
