Sweet Home - The modern Korean Survival Horror TV series

So when I did my Horror Halloween October movie Marathonback in 2020, I watched a few Korean movies.

I saw this recommended to me on my Netflix the other day and watched the trailer, zombie-like monsters and humans becoming monsters and trying to survive in apartments.

Think it looked good weird monsters, lots of gore - right up my street.

Lately, we've seen a lot of Korean movies becoming big in western culture which is great to see and a credit to good writing and good special effects.

Great, love a good monster /zombie movie/tv series cue popcorn, Netflix and let's go!

 The Plot

Following the death of his family, loner Cha Hyun-su moves into a new apartment block. His quiet life is soon disrupted when humans start transforming into horrible monsters and start attacking the inhabitants.

The show follows Hyun-su as he struggles to survive the monsters alongside other members of the apartments, their own inner darknesses, and the struggle to survive the ever-changing situation.

DLLorenzo Review "no spoilers"

A very good crafted story about survival in the midst of a monster infestation, the action is fast, frantic, and done well. The special effects and gore were good, expected more gore in some scenes.

The dramatics are very good with lots of emotion and dramatic moments and good character development over the 10 episodes.

Think of the general zombie movies where the zombies or something similar swapped out for some weird monster designs.

The special effects and some of the CGI was very good, some very weird designs,

It starts off frantic with lots of weird and intriguing monsters and then it slowly shifts becoming more about the survivors in the apartment and how they are dealing with the situations and the final episode looks to set up the future if there is a 2nd season.

I found out after watching its based on a manga, the same title Sweet Home by Kim Kan-bi and Hwang Young-Chan. I will check this out eventually

As of February 2021, there isn't a confirmation of Netflix picking it up for a 2nd season.

DLLorenzo gives it a 7/10

"I genuinely enjoyed the story, the weird looking monsters, lots of character development and growth through the episodes and hope it gets a second season."
