E3 2019 DLLorenzo Review

E3 2019 DLLorenzo Review

So another year and E3 is here! The famous gaming convention hits Los Angeles ever year and is watched by millions of fans worldwide at the reveal of new games, trailers, gameplay, new gaming systems and reveals! Trailers and News have been dropping since Saturday 8th of June!

So the main rumours surrounding this years E3 was when are we going to hear about these Next Generation consoles!?.....well we've had rumours about the Playstation 5 but with PlayStation/Sony not taking part in E3 this wasn't happening but we got a view of what Windows and Xbox are coming up with, codenamed Project Scarlett. Still going to be a playstation Boy, more information incoming.

So the main thing with E3 is the trailers and Games that hit online and fill my youtube and social media!! Also prior to E3 dropping, Playstation via its many social media avenues released a handful of gameplay and trailers, one of which being Death Standing, the Hideo Kojima (metal gear solid series)  game that everyone is excited for amongst other trailers for smaller games so a myriad of trailers and gameplay for everyone

Here are some of DLLorenzo's picks from E3 2019:

Cyberpunk 2077: So this was one of my top picks from E3 2018 and still is my top pick for 2019 and we will finally get to experience and play this game but have to wait officially until April 2020 for release! Now everyone who likes the look of the game has seen the 48 minute gameplay trailer which painted this bleak, gritty neon laced world filled with interesting and unique characters. The game follows V a fully customisable character who ventures in to Night City, a huge city based in Los Angeles in this futuristic world as you deal with creating your character and living in the cyberpunk world. A second CGI trailer dropped which looked incredible but all the people at E3 were given a view of gameplay which is meant to drop at PAX East.

Cyberpunk is for me going to be an amazing and beautiful looking game and I cannot wait to play and customise the character and enjoy the storyline. All ready got an idea may make my character a jack of all trades and do missions how I feel whether I tank in there or hack and stealth it.I think the game will launch effectively on PS4 and Xbox One but I've got a feeling it could be delayed and they may push it back for next generation console release. The inclusion of Keanu Reeves as Johnny Silverhand a ghost in the machine character helping you along the way is intriguing, we have to see what happens but the idea of Net hacking and jumping into Cyberspace is intriguing - waiting on more information excitedly! Read my Cyberpunk 2077 overview of the information we have been given so far through media.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order: This looks interesting, you play a young Jedi Padawan or young Jedi hat managed to surive order 66 which executed all of the Jedi in Revenge Of The Sith. The character based off of Gotham actor Cameron Monaghan ventures in this action adventure game set in the Star Wars universe as he ventures through missions helping the rebels with his lightsaber and force powers and his handy little robot. Saw Guerrera from Rogue One makes an appearance in the gameplay trailer.
Looks interesting, done by Respawn Entertainment famous for Titanfall (hence the wall running) need to wait on more gameplay and will probably wait for gameplay reviews but I do love star wars and will probably check this out.

Dragonball Z - Kakarot: This game revisits the Dragonball Z world but makes the whole world playable in a way that hasnt been done in other DBZ games before, making the entire setting an action role playing game through the eyes of Goku. Kakarot is a huge open world allowing you to fly or ride Goku's nimbus cloud, you can explore towns and talk to different characters, helping side quests, catching fish and hunting for food and then also in the meantime, training skills ready for the missions based on the DBZ storylines.
Definetly looks interesting and is a lot more interesting than the Xenoverse series. I enjoyed the first Xenoverse game but wasnt bothered with the second. I love Dragonball and I really hope this is a good fun game and will include a lot of DLC's and extras for stories and gameplay!

Watch Dogs: Legion: So Ubisoft return to the Watchdogs series with a twist, the game focuses on the London branch of the hacker group DedSec in challenging a new authoritive regime that has started to take control of London and the rest of the United Kingdom. DedSec now are gathering new members to combat the regime, each character in the game will have their own background and unique skill sets.
This genuinely looks interesting and looks good, I have played Watchdogs and tried the Watchdogs 2 demo. We need to see what the gameplay is like, some people are geuinely excited for this. Think I need to play Watchdogs again.

Marvel's Avengers game: So the secret SquareEnix Marvel Avengers game trailer dropped at E3 and got everyone excited. A new Avengers story not directly linked to the Cinematic Marvel Universe and follows the Avengers (Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk, Thor and Black Widow) on Avengers Day and disaster strikes when uknown enemies attack leaving the world in danger.
So this is an exciting and different game as we get SquareEnix of Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts fame doing a Marvel Superhero game, the characters are Earth's mightiest heroes in a similar setting to the Marvel Universe but its a different universe to the movies so this will be exciting to see as we recently had Playstation's Spiderman game which was a really good game! Come on SquareEnix hope this is good!

Other honourable mentions:

  •  Death Stranding: I'm not sure about this I like the creativity of Hideo Kojima, but this looks to have maybe strayed a bit more out there than his other games. He's the creator of the stealth action series Metal Gear and this follows characters based on Norman Reedus and Madds Mikkelsen. Think the idea of the story has got everyone excited but I think I'll wait to see more gameplay and maybe when gameplay reviews come online.

  • Borderlands 3: Borderlands is actually the 4th game in the series, following on from Handsome Jack's death, a new cult has taken up arms called "The Children of the Vault" to raid other Vault's as its discovered there are many more in planets in their universe! This follows the series of Borderlands game making a quirky fun first person shooter rpg and this has got people excited. Currently playing Borderlands 2 so I will be waiting for Gameplay and reviews on release.

  • Final Fantasy VII Remake:  First launched back in 1997 Final Fantasy VII is legendary to gamers who grew up with this game. Bringing back legendary characters like Cloud Strife, Square Enix have rebuilt Final Fantasy VII from the ground up and the game looks incredible. I have played the final fantasy games over the years and I like the look of this and will be waiting for good news and reviews on release.

  • Halo Infinite: So the return of Xbox's favourite first person shooter action hero Master Chief, 343 industries have said that the story will focus more heavenly on Chief and make him appear more human. This has been in development since 2015 so Xbox fans are very excited. This has also been announced as a launch title for the new Xbox Scarlett, fitting to make Halo, a launch title going into the next generation consoles. Not an Xbox player but I appreciate a good game and Halo is one of those games PlayStation fans have always been a little envious of Xbox players.

  • Legend of Zelda - Breath of the Wild 2: Another gaming hero makes a return to gaming, Link and Princess Zelda are back and revealed in a gorgeous looking trailer with some creepy magic horror effects culminating with a mummified corpse awakening as beastly eyes emerge from its sockets. Have to wait and see, one of my best friends is a Nintendo nerd and I will wait on his review

  • Doom Eternal: The return of the Doom trooper, Doom Eternal is an upcoming first person shooter following the Doom Trooper or Doom Slayer an ancient warrior who is brought back to fight the armies of mutants, demons and hellspawn. Love the doom series and I'm currently replaying the 2016 Doom game so will be checking this out.

  • Code Vein: So this is an upcoming action RPG set in a post apocalyptic world with Vampire themes, think Anime like bleach/Naruto meets Dark Souls! Definitely interested in this, I love anime and I love gaming the design and art style has me interested and this is on my list, I hope it's good!

  • Star Wars Lego: So with the culmination the Skywalker series, Lego have decided to immortalise all of them in one BIG game! I love LEGO and I enjoy some of the lego games I just hope that Lego keep it fun and maybe a little different.

Next generation consoles news and rumours

So we've heard all the rumours for the last 2-3 years about the next cycle of the console generation and now over the last month or so we have had confirmation that Sony AND Microsoft are both developing their next generation console and while Sony announced it prior to E3, Microsoft revealed it at E3!
So we are expecting the titles to be PlayStation 5 and Xbox Scarlett...or Xbox Two are the expected names, Sony have yet revealed a release date but Microsoft have revealed a launch window of Holidays 2020 which we assume is the BIG Christmas Holidays.

Both companies have decided not to show what the new consoles look like but have told the world about what tech works under the hood so to speak. Both consoles will be able to run content up to 8K resolution and both seem to be running similar specs and both will use the new ray tracing technology for significant lighting changes to games and bringing a new level of gaming which is usually reserved for high end PC gaming. The only difference is that Microsoft have confirmed they will be using backward compatible technology with the Xbox Ones hardware accessories and games, as it will have a disk drive available at launch. Sony have also said their device will be backwards compatible at least with your PS4 library, we have to see what happens with other hardware and games.

We  currently only have one confirmed game at launch which is Halo Infinite for the next Xbox console. We are also assuming a Next generation console release for games like Cyberpunk 2077 to follow! Death Stranding and Ghost of Tsushima I think could appear on the new PS5, but I can definitely see Cyberpunk 2077 either being a launch title for PS5 AND Xbox Two or it will repackaged as a definitive edition or remastered edition.

Who knows what may happen will this competition keep going for years to come it remains to be seen. The next thing apart from the look, the brand, the launch titles and the specs is the price, now this is where Sony blitzed Microsoft at launch of the PS4 and Xbox One where PS4 was £350 at launch and Xbox One was £429 due to its ill fated and short lived built in Kinect motion tracker, a brilliant idea which was initially hailed as the next big thing for consoles but after negative and unpopularity Microsoft redesigned the console with over versions to phase it out. With specs being so close this time don't expect prices to be so different this time around.

Here's hoping the PlayStation 5 is brilliant and hope the Xbox Two does well but I believe the difference between Microsoft and Sony this time will be down to Launch titles, sales and the available streaming and gaming applications, heres hoping from a PlayStation boy that Sony's next generation console is incredible and gets some converts and continues the fight of the games console's for many more years to come.
