DLLorenzon Review 3/5

So I'd heard about this where Chris Hemsworth was trying the action hero role after many years of playing Thor and recently playing comedic roles, following other action movies such as Liam Neeson's Taken (2008) and Keanu Reeves, John Wick (2014).

Let's go with the DLLorenzo review:

  • A good action movie shot in India, the plot isn't anything special but there are a lot of plot twists and action scenes aplenty, lots of deaths and gory moments.
  • The fight scenes reminded me of John Wick and my favorite Batman vs Superman Warehouse scene. Chris Hemsworth plays a good, mostly silent action hero, and the fight scenes are scripted really well. Like the Russo brothers went full-on Batfleck warehouse action POV movie
  • For action fans, this is a smorgasbord but for the squeamish, you may not enjoy some scenes.
  • I loved the setting in Bangladesh and was good to see Indian actors on the big screen.
  • Loved some of the changes of the camera and they took a 3rd person / first-person view during some action scenes which was awesome and made you feel like you were part of the overall scene
  • The characters aren't very interesting, the hero Tyler Rake (Chris Hemsworth) is the typical action hero, backstories are tried and tested and the villains are lackluster and boring.

Overall: Extraction (2020) is a good action movie and action fans will enjoy the over the top action and fight scenes, however, the action is the only thing keeping the movie entertaining. The plot is sadly basic, not something revolutionary and the characters arent interesting to keep you enthralled. DLLorenzon Review 3/5
