Stripes movie review

Stripes follow John Winger (Bill Murray) a cab driver who, in the span of a few hours, loses his job, his apartment, his car, and his girlfriend. Realizing he's a 30-year-old loser with no prospects he decides to join the Army, Convincing best friend Russell Ziskey (Harold Ramis), a teacher, they go to a recruiting office and are shipped off for basic training. After their hilarious basic training, Winger and Ziskey lead their ragtag group of ne'er do wells in causing a potential international scandal.

DLLorenzo Review

So this is a cult classic and follows Bill Murray and Harold Ramis lead a ragtag bunch of America's finest, through basic training, to Europe and potentially cause an international situation.

I'd heard of the movie but never seen it but thanks to Netflix I was able to watch it - surprisingly funny, a young Bill Murray leads the movie with good humor, apparently based on a character he created for America's Saturday Night Live television show.

It's a fun laugh out loud movie, with cheesy cartoon-like action, lots of swearing, exaggerated violence, mishaps, and some very beautiful women. The individuals are funny and as the ragtag group it pulls off the humor throughout the film.

Definitely check it out BUT if you have kids put them to bed as a bit of nudity - this was done back in the 80's and is definitely 80's comedy!
