So here’s an overall breakdown about what we know of the upcoming movie from Warner Bros and Matt Reeves, The Batman is due to drop Summer 2021 and every Bat Fan is exited, apprehensive and waiting patiently!!


PLEASE TAKE AND READ EVERYTHING I HAVE ON THIS BLOG LIGHTLY - WE HAVE NO CONFIRMATION THAT ANY OF THIS WILL DEFINITELY APPEAR IN THE MOVIE - I HAVE FOUND THIS INFORMATION ONLINE AND EVERYONE IS ENTITLED TO THEIR OPINION OR REVIEW

 FIRST AND FOREMOST I AM A BATMAN FAN - I IDEALLY WOULD HAVE LOVED TO SEE ZACK SNYDERS VISION HIT THE BIG SCREEN BUT DUE TO ISSUES OUT OF THE FANS CONTROL IT HAS CHANGED (ONE DAY I HOPE WE GET TO SEE HIS VISION) HOWEVER THERE IS A NEW BATMAN, HE'S NOT BATFLECK BUT I WANT TO SEE THIS NEW BATMAN WHEN it's COMPLETED - IT COULD BE AMAZING - IT WILL CHANGE THE DC EXTENDED UNIVERSE - THERE IS NO NEED FOR NEGATIVITY 

 IT IS A BATMAN MOVIE AND I THINK I SPEAK FOR ALL OF THE BATMAN FANS OUT THERE WE WANT A BRILLIANT BATMAN MOVIE AND I HOPE THE BATMAN WILL BE ABSOLUTELY AMAZING.



So originally The Batman was going to be directed by Ben Affleck and portray Ben Afflecks tormented and older Batman, that we saw in Zack Snyders Batman vs Superman, in a plot similar to the game Arkham Origins, this was the rumor and they had Deathstroke (Joe Manganiello) already in a cameo at the end of Justice League! Obviously, that hasn’t panned out as well as we’d hoped. With the criticism off the back of Batman Vs Superman and Justice League, Ben Affleck decided to cut short his career as the caped crusader.
  • So originally The Batman was to be directed by AND starring Ben Affleck as The Batman, the role he portrayed in Batman Vs Superman (2016) and Suicide Squad (2017), it was to be a prequel to Batman vs Superman and was to feature Ben Affleck's Batman meet a host of villains including Deathstroke (played by Joe Manganiello) and would feature the famous Arkham Asylum.

  • Since shooting Justice League, the hype surrounding Ben Affleck directing the Batman grew and issues or cracks started to appear with Bens situation and Zack Snyders situation - Ben was originally due to shoot, star and produce in it but this changed over time with him relinquishing the director role to Matt Reeves then ultimately finishing his role as Batman.
  • It is rumored that the very public divorce from wifeJen Garner, the fallout in the eyes of media and struggles with alcoholism affected Ben Affleck's personal situation surrounding the Batman role amid issues with the role and he took a decision to leave the role
  • I hope his personal situation gets better and he returns to be Batman in future movies or even as a cameo when he's ready - he's my favorite Batman as he shows a darker live-action Batman we've seen before and played a good Bruce Wayne.
  • Following #ReleasetheSynderCut a lot of things have appeared online regarding the whole situation and time of events. Hints at rumors of producers and directors clashing with Warner Bros studio heads and internal fighting between Warner Bros staff and DC staff.
  • Recent news is that the #RelaseTheSnyderCut is now rumored to be done and could release as a Movie or as an HBO series.



What we know currently about the upcoming The Batman:

  • The movie was due to release in cinemas 25 June 2021
  • So the premise of Matt Reeves's The Batman will follow a younger Batman, compared to Zack Snyders older Batman and follow him investigating clues surrounding murders that will bring him face to face with his worst enemies.
  • The story will continue after the 1st/2nd year of being a vigilante.
  • The rumor is the tone of the movie will be dark and intriguing revolving around a murder or mystery
  • That it will have nods to the Earth-One comics, Year One and The Long Halloween.
  • In February we got a moody reveal of the new Batman and Robert Pattinson in the costume and the music - the video generated lots of speculation and discussions of how and what it means for the Batman world. Critics and journalists cited that Pattinson's Batman looks a lot different from any Batman we've seen before, while others noted the suits hints to different incarnations of Batman such as Batman Noel and Batman Gotham by Gaslight and the gauntlets noticed to be from Court of Owls. 
  • The Teaser or Test scenes of Robert Pattinson in a Bat Suit dropped 14/02/2020
  • The armor looks similar to chain mail and similar to the movable armor of the Arkham Knight game
  • The rumor mill is that we may see during the movie, not 1 suit but potentially 2 or 3 Bat suits throughout the movie. This may signify his first costume used as a vigilante, to his more improved suit seen in small scenes and an improved suit near the end of the movie
  • Rumors are it could be destroyed in a scene for a big FINALE - Again these are rumors
  • Could this also be the new logo of the Movie?


  • We've seen images of the new Bat symbol from the teaser/tester - look at the design and it looks like a gun split down the middle. In an old comic book, Batman after finding out the killer of his parents remodeled the gun and turned it into the famous icon on his chest to protect himself - which is a nice nod to the comic if this is to appear.


  • There's a lot of actors who have joined this movie - Robert Pattinson as Batman, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as the Riddler / Edward Nashton, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon, John Turturro appears as Carmine Falcone and Peter Sarsgaard as Gotham DA Gil Colson.
  • During Pre-production, we were treated to pictures and videos of The Bat-suit and surprisingly a Bat bike in Glasgow leaked 21/02/2020
  • Rumors were Warner Brothers were sending removal requests to anyone posting these leaks on social media. Sorry, Matt, Rob, and Warner Brothers, we're Batman fans it will happen!

  • Matt Reeves responded about The Batman in an interview about how Matt will try to differentiate his Batman movie to all the others:

 "The way I loved Apes is the way that I loved Batman. The only two franchises that might have been something I would have connected with, amazingly, are the ones I was approached by. That's a very special thing. I can't say that about almost any other franchise that they would have been the right fit for me. My thing about it, on both of them, is that I had a particular take that, for me, was personal. I feel like if I cant approach something through a perspective that resonates with me on some personal level, I don't know where to put the camera, and I don't know how to talk to the actors". 

" I appreciate that you want me to do a Batman movie, but I just don't want to do a Batman movie, I want to do a Batman movie that has a chance to be something different, and humanist".

"It's the same reason I did the Apes movies. Those movies were incredibly personal to me, despite the fact that they were what they were. So I made my pitch for what it would be, and to my great pleasure, it turned out that they were totally open to that. I took a tremendously long time working with my partners on writing that script, and they waited. And when I turned it in, they wanted to make it. I've been so incredibly fortunate that they've been so open to it being different. And one of the exciting things about it is that it drew an incredibly interesting and talented number of actors to want to be involved in it".

"To me, that's the dream".


  • Matt Reeves also mentioned: 
"I wanted to do not an origin tale, but a tale that would still acknowledge his origins, in that it formed who he is. Like this guy, he's majorly struggling, and this is how he's trying to rise above that struggle."

  • This movie is sounding dark and brooding and acknowledging the psychology behind the character - clearly, Batman has a lot of issues and as mostly has seen in Batman characters in the live-action movies, the comics and animated versions the man uses a lot of anger to help him in his battle against the criminals of Gotham.
  • As we know this sounds like it will tie in with the movie surrounding a murder mystery spree which may or may not is caused by the Riddler. 
  • This is very much a stripped-down Batman, not working with the Justice League, not fighting Superman or chasing the Joker in a flashy car. He's very much ground level, investigating the murder scenes and seeing the acts caused by the enemies of Gotham and will try to bring them to justice. I think the movie will cover Bruce pretty much going to the deep end dealing with the murder mystery and questioning his code.
  • Public reveal by Matt Reeves on Twitter of the new Batmobile! which looks like a stripped-out mustang/dodge charger which looks awesome and seems to have an exposed engine at the back with an afterburner like the old 1966 batmobiles and all the other batmobiles to appear. I really like the look of this Batmobile.
  • Like the Batmobile meets Fast and Furious meets 1966 Batmobile and Mad Max PERSONAL OPINION IT LOOKS GROUNDED IN THE LIVE ACTION, DARK FEEL OF THE MOVIE.




  • So far its been confirmed we will see a Batbike and a Batmobile in the movie (as confirmed in pictures and scenes above)
  • Also noted from the Batman mask seen in the reveal and in these new pictures they look significantly different - the cape is different as well as it has a high color near the back providing protection and looks similar to the suit from Batman Gotham by Gaslight
  • Filming was undertaken in Glasgow London and Liverpool
  • Images of Robert Pattinson training have emerged - some of the negative criticism has been launched due to him being leaner than Ben Afflecks bulkier Batman - concerns that Pattinson is too thin has concerned fans
  • Rumors about the Penguin appearing in the Batman movie, Colin Farrell is playing the penguin / Oswald Cobblepot in this new look/take of the fishy fiendish villain
  • Initially, people were concerned as a radical new look for the Penguin and moves away from the Danny Devito character - HOWEVER, there seem to rumors prosthetics were being made for Colin Farrel (similar to Danny Devito's take on the villain) but this could also mean a mask - I remember playing the Telltale version of Batman and that take on the Penguin was quite good.  - This information was taken from an interview of an actor going to play Mrs. Doubtfire in a big theatre production
  • What kind of prosthetics, are they similar to Danny Devito's Penguin or will he be different and follow a traditional penguin character from the Arkham Games or the Telltale games or potentially different.

  • According to an article surfacing online Colin Farrell, plays a character called "Os", short for Oswald Cobblepot. The leak alleges that the character will be written as a good guy whose running for Mayor and trying to avoid being murdered, The leak goes on to claim that he story takes place during a Gotham election year where candidates are being targeted by a character who is leaving riddles behind. This points to Paul Danos Riddler being the main villain of the movie.
  • This "Os" character sounds like the Penguin we see in the Batman Telltale games and he came across as a slightly troubled character not necessarily bad and needing Bruce his old friend, which quickly turned out he was a notorious criminal from Britain nicknamed the Penguin due to his mask

LOOK AWAY IF YOU DONT WANT TO SPOIL SPIDERMAN FAR AWAY FROM HOME



  • Similar to maybe what Marvel has done recently in Spiderman homecoming with Jake Gyllenhaal's Mysterio. Just like when Mysterio appeared I knew he was a bad guy from my love of the comic books AND IF I SPOILED THIS FOR YOU SORRY - THIS IS A BIG LEAK PAGE. 
  • Is "Os" playing as a good guy or is he genuinely a good guy or secretly a notorious criminal mastermind or mafia boss running the gangs or criminals in Gotham?

  • Rumors were that they would cancel filming due to Coronavirus and a post was online from DC films to state they would be continuing at first.
  • DC and Warner Bros a few days later then confirmed via social media that the movie was then on lockdown due to the Coronavirus hitting the UK.
  • Matt Reeves has said only that around a quarter of the film has been filmed already prior to suspension and that he was taking time to review and work on the footage, not to do any re-writes, and to work on the overall movie's tone and what's to come.

Leaked images have been put online during filming this is apparently zephyrs that will appear in Gotham similar to the animated series and Tim Burton's Batman.


  • This leak has been hinted that its Robert Pattinson's stunt double being attacked by a gang in a park or someone else - personally I don't think its Bruce Wayne - but the gang's link is questionable as this gang is either affiliated with Penguin, Two-Face or Joker.
  •  It looks questionably just like the facepaint from Batman vs Superman but if memory serves Superman was saving people during Day of the Dead or Dia de Muertos the Mexican holiday where they celebrate, pray and remember friends/ family members who have died. This could be me overthinking things but we wait patiently for more news.
  • From the looks of things the movie seems to be very much stripped down and Do it Yourself, with filming in real locations, not CGI, prosthetics and actors actually training, and the new stripped-down look of the new Batmobile and Batsuit
  • Will the Batman be politically driven and look at this corrupted world filled with mafia gangs, bosses, and exciting colorful, or dark characters???



  • While on lockdown an interviewer asked Matt Reeves what his favorite Batman movies were and he answered Batman (1989) and The Dark Knight (2012)
  • Michael Giacchino is producing the music for the movie, he has created music for Jurassic World, The Incredibles, its sequel, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Spider-man Homecoming, its sequel and Rogue One. 
  • Filming was underway in Liverpool before the virus locked down production.
  • Andy Serkis recently interviewed concerning the role and said it would be a dark script taking stuff from the previous movies, its exquisite, and Bruce and Alfred are central to the plot - in Year One Alfred is more an embittered mentor than a butler. Andy Serkis reckons it will be a beautiful film.
  • Andy Serkis also mentions that fans should expect a darker and broodier Batman movie
  • The movie will cover his first years as Batman and it could be that he has handled mafia and gangs more and with this Reeves Batman universe, starting is the coming of the super-powered villains.
  • Could Peter Saarsgard be written in as a possible cover for Harvey Dent? Could Gil Colson be another name to hide a possible transformation for a future appearance?

  • Jeffrey Wright has said in an interview that Matt Reeves's The Batman is the next evolution.
"My take is - the way I explain what we're doing is, like, with any film, we're working together to create a mood, to create an idea, a setting, a tone. This is the next evolution since 1939 when these stories began."

"This is the next evolution of Gotham. So I am working off the stage Matt Reeves is providing and also working off what Robert Pattinson is doing. We are trying to create something together that is our own, but is also Batman."

"I read the script for the Batmobile and I was like, yeah that's it. Bruce Wayne created the most badass muscle car you could imagine, but it's grounded in Gotham. It's grounded in Americana."


  • Matt Reeves has posted on Twiter that the virus isn't delaying the production work and he is constantly at work talking to production teams to finetune everything ready when production begins again and working with the writers, producers, and team.
  • Robert Pattinson was recently interviewed by GQ magazine and claimed he doesn't want to be ripped like superheroes are expected to be back in the 1970's James Dean wasn't ripped. We all know he is committed to the role and has been doing physical training and think he was having fun with this shoot and interview - he's a very committed actor and is committed to the Batman role.
  • Also, I think people forget Batman isn't all about the muscles - as you can see here Robert Pattinson is healthy fit actor as seen in other pictures - He's a younger batman whose detective driven so I don't think we will see lots of fights




  • We have already had the awesome muscular Batman in Ben Affleck's portrayal of the role (please see below) and don't remind me of the poor fight scenes in the Nolan Batman trilogy - I wasn't a fan of the fight scenes there - LOVED THE TRILOGY but fight scenes were lacking.   • Rumors are Johnny Depp or Tom Hiddleston could be the Joker in The Batman trilogy. These are currently not confirmed and could just be rumors. Personally, we don't need all the villains and the Joker in the first The Batman movie. I personally would love to see a take on Clayface however this movie doesn't look like its focusing on super-powered villains as Catwoman / two face/ riddler and Penguin aren't necessarily super-powered villains like Darkseid, Steppenwolf, etc their ingenious creative criminals and can look very good if done on a down to earth live-action Batman movie.
  • How this Batman ties in with the future of the DCEU remains to be seen as far as we are aware and whats been revealed its in its own universe which allows Matt Reeves to create its own universe
  • The whole DCEU is up in the air with this reboot of Batman - is it in DCEU (Shazam, Aquaman, Shazam etc) like the Joker isnt??
  • DC has updated that due to Coronavirus The Batman will now release October 2022 and both the Shazam and Flash movies will appear in 2022

  • Will the movie continue to be called THE BATMAN or will it appear as the working title Batman: Vengeance. I hope it remains as The Batman and I wonder if the symbol will change - personally, I approved of the Ben Affleck Batman symbol however with it not being tied in with the previous Batman this will most surely change - I saw a working title appears as a bit of a blocky bat symbol or will it appear similar to the bat symbol on Pattinson's chest.
  • The Batman is starting to resume filming in Britain which is great news as announced 08/06/2020

  • Rumors are rife about the new Joker appearing in one of the future movies, he may be hinted at in The Batman and may appear in the second or third movie of the supposed trilogy and we also may see Matt Reeves's take on Bane in one of the movies BUT Bane and the Joker will not be the villain for the Batman, at least for the first one. There could even be a cameo or nod to the Joker similar to the end of Batman Begins - without them revealing an actor.

  • (See below)We won't see this I hope as Joker was meant to be a standalone and potentially is in a different universe, however, with the success of the movie there is a rumour there will be a sequel. The timeline is a bit odd as Bruce Wayne became Batman at 25 - Joker in the Joker movie was late 30's mid 40's and we saw a young Bruce Wayne - perhaps they do an older Joker........who knows?





  • As we've known for a while it looks like The Riddler will be the big bad of the movie, and I am interested in how lethal this Riddler is to Jim Carrey's comical one in Batman Forever - he might be the dangerous one I envisaged when I first heard the riddler was to appear in the Gotham Tv series (that Riddler was played very well) - a psychopath with murderous tendencies - who gave victims riddles to break out of SAW-(movie-Esque) traps - 3C Films mentions about a Riddler mobile - good shout but it could just be used in that scene to get the DOA to the scene quicker.
  • This Riddler's intent from the rumors is to take out mayor candidates for Gotham in a need to reveal the crimes of Gotham city's upper elite and protectors.
  • Rumour is we will see a different Bruce Wayne, unlike other live-action editions he will be more businessman than playboy
  • Supposedly could be the new Arkham Asylum see from the screenshot, rumors are Batman even by his 2nd year of crimefighting could have locked up the Joker already and the other villains may appear randomly throughout the movie in different ways.


  • A rumor online seems to be that if Pattinsons Batman has already locked up the Joker - does he do a Hannibal Lecter and visit the Joker to help him get in the mindset of the criminal? This has been done in the comics and cartoon series - could that be the cameo or hint - even if they haven't got an actor if they have an idea of the way this Joker may look could do little hints before the big reveal for the 2nd or third movie?
