Cyberpunk 2077 3rd Update

CYBERPUNK 2077 UPDATES PART 3

So since my last update, the 3rd delay has happened, there’s lots of conflicting information regarding this one as CDPR officially cites issues with devices and possibly older generation consoles limitations, which in my personal opinion is a bit of a cop-out and I think there's more behind this decision.

**PLEASE REMEMBER I have created this blog post as I really enjoy the Cyberpunk theme and lore and cannot wait for the Cyberpunk 2077 game and everything surrounding it - anything I post is rumors until confirmed and some of these are my personal opinions - always happy to discuss these and hope to set up a Youtube channel when I sort out my home office setup.

  • The Cyberpunk 2077 release date has been moved again from 19/11/2020 to 10/12/2020. More delays are frustrating for the developers and the game community. Sadly had to change my leave requests and now have a long weekend in December which I cannot wait for!
  • **With the delay, CDPR developers have had hate-filled emails, messages, and even in some cases threats.
  • Id like to say I don't condone this random sense of privilege and violence, please Choombas rethink the thought process - it is a game, an awesome looking game, but a game at the end of the day! Let them focus on making the fixes and we will eventually play Cyberpunk 2077!
  • **Personal attacks and threats on CDPR game developers, that is NOT ON and should not be tolerated- remember it is a game! Just a game!
  • Another delay has been rumored by companies and users and Cyberpunk 2077 could be delayed till 2021, with a tweet by a known video game insider tweeting about and responding to questions that they have heard unhappy things with CDPR
  • **CDPR however has started to strongly back themselves at delivering the game for the 10/12 - videogamers noticed the release 10/12 had been removed from the Official Cyberpunk 2077 Twitter account banner, however, the community manager, Marcin Momot, tweeted the new updated version when questions began trending.
  • Even though CDPR looks to be doubling down on the 10/12 release date, video game insiders are citing unhappiness within CDPR and outside, sadly videogamers have been burned a few times, and there looks like a lack of trust surrounding the delay - if it happens, they’re trying to fix the game but it will be the 4th delay this year and the game should have been ready to hit consoles earlier this year.
  • Tiffany Treadmore again commented who was cited with the CDPR delays rumor as a video game insider, posted:  "I guess CDPR updated their profile yesterday to double down on December 10 after the rumor e heard went kind of nuts on a couple of sites. Still not convinced. Hearing bad stuff internally that there will likely be another delay till January 2021."

MY PERSONAL OPINION **This comment  ^^^ above is hearsay and an opinion until proven, anyone can say this at this stage, I can say oh wow it could be delayed till next year.... - we know there have been problems potentially hence the delay so people need to take all rumors as rumors - if it is delayed till January 2021 hey just means ill have my next-gen console hopefully or I use my PS4....big Whoop! It's a game! Me personally I’m happy to wait as I want this game and I want it to work at launch but be honest with your community, if it’s delayed till next year just say - I’ve had my copy preordered since 2018/2019 and I can wait.
  • The good news looks like the marketing and social media teams have been taking a small break and are ramping up communications again and the social media accounts are back posting and verifying the 10/12 launch date
  • Hope we find out the real reason for the delays, its frustrating for the developers and us the gaming community - rumors are of next-gen compatibility, old generation limitations, covid, and working from home.
  • Rumors are that the decision to delay the game release date was made last minute by company executives and delay news only reached developers a day later But they were all silenced by an in-company NDA - non-disclosure agreement until conversations with management.
  • Old generation limitations I think are a little unfounded, yes there may be limitations on the graphics system but when the gameplay dropped 2 years ago that was confirmed on current generation consoles PS4, Xbox One, and PC and looked incredible. There's always going to be a jump in graphics and content with new-gen consoles, but CDPR should have been aware of this as they already had in agreement with Microsoft to offer free upgrades for Cyberpunk 2077 from Xbox One to Xbox Series X more or less a year in advance.
  • If it's cited too many devices its rolled out on CDPR could have advised they were only launching on specific ones to maintain quality and demand - 7 devices: Microsoft/PC, Stadia, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox X, and the Xbox X/s
  • In a deleted post by a developer, they think the game is looking incredible however they wish they had more time to polish bugs and issues within the game.
  • Rumors are with the game going Gold, discs are currently being manufactured for release and CDPR are working on a massive day 1 patch update to fix the bugs or issues found prior to release which is supposedly the issues causing the delays.
  • CDPR shares have dropped by 25% concerning the delays to Cyberpunk 2077 and the uncertainty. This is also down to the “crunch” 6-day working weeks imposed to get the game finished and uncertainty of further delays. Cyberpunk so far must be a PR and media nightmare due to the delays and changing of dates, marketing, and advertisements
  • Multiplayer has been in design from the beginning apparently and is being done by a separate team to the game - Apparently, the rumor is the multiplayer is in a testing phase and after the release of the game finally, the multiplayer may be the new focus of the patching and DLCs will be the next target for CDPR
  • A new creative lead is working on the Cyberpunk Multiplayer, Gabe Amatangelo is the creative director for the multiplayer - Bit of a veteran in Videogaming, he was formally a creative director for EA, lead PvP director/designer at Bioware and is also known for his work on Star Wars: The Old Republic Multiplayer.
  • Gameplay has leaked of a meeting with V, Jackie, Dexter Deshawn, and T-Bug after the Maelstrom mission gameplay we saw 2 years ago, it's recorded in polish but someone was nice enough to translate with English subtitles - there are discussions for a heist and to get into an Arasaka plaza called Koneki Plaza, with use of the Flathead spider bot.
  • There may be mechanics in-game to signify if you have stolen a car and if you own a car - highlighted when someone compared driving behind the wheel in a calm level where we assumed the car is V's to another situation where V is belting down a cyber style motorway with cars all about and the entire car dashboard is flashing lights and strobing effects.
  • Cyberpunk 2077 team tweeted "Our quest team is amazing*. The Witcher 3 was a great warm-up in terms of quest design. Now we're going all in! *and so are the other teams :)" - There should be fun, hardcore, dark, and varied quests.
  • So back in 2018 CDPR announced they were working with DigitalScapes on the multiplayer, these are known for their work with Techland on developing the multiplayer for Dying Light. This could highlight the way CDPR wants to develop its multiplayer, which could be PvP and Team deathmatches around objectives, also known as asymmetrical multiplayer. We are waiting for more information, there are prototypes which we will hear more about in 2021/2022.
  • A huge Cyberpunk 2077 billboard advert was put up in the center of New York which approximately cost CDPR $4 million

  • Cyberpunk Online, a companion app that will work alongside your Cyberpunk 2077 account, which surprisingly hasn't had much news surrounding it and hoping we find out more information in the next month or so or after the game launches on 10/12/2020.
  • News concerning the boardgame Cyberpunk RED and this will finally be out November 19th - "I would love to try this might have to rope in my old DnD friends for some socially distanced Cyberpunk nights in Night City - until the multiplayer comes in".
  • For those in the Nordic regions, Finland Iceland, Norway and Denmark a new application is on its way out called Breach (#BREACH), CDPR and Bandai Namco have rolled out this new app, its as follows:

"HACK. STEAL. TRADE - Welcome to BREACH. In BREACH you play as a  Netrunner, a master hacker of the post NET world and brain-burning secret stealer. Inspired by Cyberpunk. DVA has developed this community-building scavenger hunt app for Bandai Namco.

  • The prizes you can wind by hacking the puzzles and challenges wins a grand prize of an Xbox Series X and Samsung QLED Q80T Smart 4k TV!
  • Cyberpunk style Adidas trainers are starting to hit the market - please see below:

  • So has a special ONEPLUS T1 Cyberpunk special edition phone (please see below) - only available in China - a new smartwatch in a cyberpunk style is due to launch alongside the ONEPLUS T1.

  • Rumour is more gameplay reveal prior to launch date, through the next Night City live event, similar to the gameplay shown 2 years ago and the Deep dive gameplay reveal. The nearly 50-minute gameplay first seen was incredible and they need to show lots and lots more gameplay content.

Last night city wire CATCHUP:
  • We got to see the exclusive Johnny Silverhand custom Porsche 911 - "which is very cool and sort of reminds me of scenes in futuristic movies where little nods are made to older times. For example in iRobot where Will Smith collects nostalgic old school items, Ready Player One with its nods to the 80s, etc. It's a very cool custom car and it's rumored we can unlock Johnny's car in-game".
  • "My Fiancee's brother loves Porsche cars or “Por-shuh" and will be looking for this car if he gets the game. The car is over a hundred years old and I saw this post by Pawel Sasko - Pawel confirms there is a specific level or quest to unlock this beautiful automobile, it also confirms there will be levels, quests, side missions, or projects to unlock various weapons, customized weapons, clothes, items, and vehicles".

  • The car is over a hundred years old by this stage.
  • Following the reveal of Johnny Silverhands car it is mentioned there are other legendary vehicles and exclusive cars and bikes hidden around Night City.
  • Where we won't be able to customize vehicles, which is sad news, you can at stages steal and find cars. I hope to god with updates CDPR brings in-car customizations in the future as this would help make the game even more in-depth and customizable.
  • Keanu Reeves very own company ARCH Bikes, will feature in the Cyberpunk 2077 game,  cyberpunk style version of their motorcycles, which look incredible (please see below):

  • Cars of the future - so we got to see the various versions of the cars of the future, from small economic courses like the Makagai, the smaller faster Thorton, to the lounge and exclusive style Corpo cars, the sports cars Quadra V and its modified versions, heavily armored trucks, Vans, and top of the range sports cars with digital canopies - the cars look incredible and I cannot wait to try them all.
  • Hopefully as mentioned above I would love to see CDPR allow us to customize these in future updates or DLC (Please see below some of the amazing looking cars)

  • The Chevaillon Corpo luxurious saloon car

  • The nippy Thorton model car

  • The undeniably cute and small Makinai Mai-Mai
  • A modified Quadra V

  • Another little note I saw when perusing all things cyberpunk, is a tweet by Cyberpunk 2077 Twitter in regards to questions: "To clarify - cars in your possession can be used to store items (so they work as item storage) - Miles Tost, senior-level designer, then commented to one gamer query about what happens if they swap cars - "I will be so audacious and step in with some cold hard dev knowledge: the answer to your question is yes, they are connected, your apartments storage and the trunks of your cars act as one storage - it is very handy...just don't ask me how it "works". It works"

LATEST NEWS:

  • PSN has gotten involved regarding cyberpunk 2077 and notified users or people who have preordered about the delay (Please see the message below)
"I saw this myself and freaked out thinking I had been hacked as I have preordered through Amazon - **This appears for all users who may have downloaded the free PSN theme and now reflects and updated the PSN store with the new release date 10/12/2020".

  • New look Razer Mouse incoming with a cyberpunk style - "I might have to keep an eye out for this for my own desktop gaming rig - which will be next year".

  • In an Interview with Daniele Duri, Principal gameplay animator of CDPR for Cyberpunk 2077 - who cited many inspirations for the citizens of Night City, heir style, and their animations. CDPR has literally put in everything because Night City is very multi-cultural: Monks, businessmen, scavengers, samurai, merchants, and many more. They took inspirations from Cyberpunk literature. They took in particular inspiration from a situation that happened in 1980s Hong Kong, regarding the Walled City of Kowloon, where many people who lived there were outlaws, living amongst themselves in tiered buildings and which had their own zones and hierarchy. They examined many documentaries on how this "city" was built and how people lived there in oppression.
  • "The whole Walled city of Kowloon and the multiple tiered city blocks in Cyberpunk kind of reminds me of the Mega Blocks in the 2012 Dredd Movie called Peach Trees - remember the 48-minute gameplay demo when V awakens in her apartment and heads to meet Jackie and her Ripper Doc? Very cool".
  • There is rumored to be a walled city or area in Cyberpunk 2077 and combat zones, more on that in the future.
  • He also explains that the path you choose will not change your character animations, because that was too much work. The first person animations were built to give the feeling of someone who is an expert in weaponry.
  • The Mo-cap animations were filmed with many movie inspirations, for example: for the Yakuza Corpos, they watched many movies by Takeshi Kitano, for the Nomads in the Badlands, they watched the Mad Max series and many more.
  • First-person animations were built with traditional key-frame animations because mo-cap animation on first-person had many problems. Even many mo-cap animations took further "hands-on" work with key-frames because they are not always perfect. Every animation you'll see in Night City took some work for an animator to be perfect.
  • There a lot of details in the first person camera animations, like head bobbing, etc that you may not even notice, but they have tried playing without, and somethings were affected. All of this has been procedural and tested.
  • Your character will not have a head model during the first person, but that was a problem when your character casts shadows around you, because you the player would notice. They took an animator to remake all of these things with a simplified model in 3rd person only to have the right shadows.
  • Mike Pondsmith has been involved so much. He worked with CDPR on many things and was a constant presence in the studio. Sadly the covid situation stopped Pondsmith to stay there, the beginning of March. A character in the game is inspired by him and he even voiced his lines.
  • Daniele also mentions in the interview the difference between the Cyberpunk 2077 upcoming video game with the 90's RPG board game. They put more freedom on classes but things like the name of abilities, accessories, etc are all taken from the tabletop game.
  • He mentioned he cannot talk about the expansions. However, he confirms that things like new skills/ abilities will be added in there.
  • He also mentions about the Cyberpunk 2077 main quest, The Witcher 3 main quest story is very long, and not many players have actually completed it, so CDPR has shortened the main quest for Cyberpunk 2077. "I'm one of those gamers that haven't played The Witcher 3, don't hate, I love the look of the game and have picked up recently to try and play it when I can, I loved the TV series - But both the witcher and cyberpunk are 2 very different games just same developers - I cannot wait to play both stories".
  • You can kill or steal cars from Corpo members. Many NPC's have the faces of CDPR developers. "I really like the fact developers and CDPR staff are in-game, a bit like YouTubers appearing in-game recently announced, BUT the developers deserve it, I'm sorry to say but the YouTubers are just social media and marketing".
  • Daniele also talks about the current generation consoles. He admits that the quality of the PS4/Xbox One versions of Cyberpunk is not currently on the spot they want them to be. "This is a shame to hear, if that's the case make the announcement to just move on to next-gen and PC - the game looked incredible 2 years ago from the 48-minute gameplay so I find it hard to believe - this game was confirmed the gameplay was on console".
  • He also mentions the RPG elements of the game: the perks and enhancements you put on your character will have a visual representation. Eyes zoom and report specific things. Some perks and enhancements can unlock alternatives to dialogue options. "That's pretty cool and means that regardless of your 3 picked classes you could maybe "buy" additional extra speech through skills or components perhaps to help you?"
  • He jokes that he was working for Crytek when the first teaser of Cyberpunk was released. When he saw that, he decided to move to CDPR because he wanted to work on Cyberpunk so much. He started in 2017.
  • It has been mentioned that youtube reviewers Dr. Disrespect, Allanah Pearce, and Jesse Cox, will appear in various quests in Night City, some being humorous where Allanah mentioned she had to help Jesse in a quest, where apparently, Cox attempts to undergo some sort of penis enlargement surgery which results in a comical mishap - Pearce then had to aid the YouTuber by driving him to a specific location which then resulted in her later receiving money from Cox.
  • The new song by Run the Jewels in collaboration with CDPR for the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 has dropped 12/11/2020 called "No Save Point" which will feature in-game and on the soundtrack. **"Can confirm the song is available on Spotify and its really good

  • We have incoming gameplay for the 19/11 for the next Night City live - as confirmed by Marcin Momot back on the 21/10 in a tweet as hed just watched the amazing gameplay footage.
  • To strengthen that CDPR will deliver the game on 10/12, media firms have started to receive Cyberpunk 2077 promotion items, bags, t-shirts, posters, etc with 10/12 all over them.

SPOILERS AHEAD PLEASE IF YOU DONT WANT TO KNOW DO NOT PROCEED

  • Updates from 14/11 as I'm catching up on updates on the weekend and updating this very blog something has dropped which has got me excited about the game - a user has gone on the GOG website where the game is releasing on - GOG.com is a digital distribution platform similar to Steam and is an owned subsidiary of CD Projekt based in Poland.
  • While on the said website looks like they have already leaked the Trophy list for the Cyberpunk 2077 game, prior to launch - Marcin Momot has gone to Twitter to advise ideally they wanted to keep everything hidden for players but some information they would have liked to keep hidden has unfortunately leaked:

  • Looks like CDPR have locked down the hidden trophies, relating to the story - which I think is great, I want to thoroughly enjoy and dive into the story myself in the single player.
  •  It's what I expected and sounds very fun and interesting, some brilliant titles and some interesting new things - However only quickly scanning don't want to get too involved and over-analyze.....I do this a lot and there's potentially a story spoiler / cyberware extras in there (I won't highlight it). I scanned through quickly and I am still looking forward to this game and will be attempting to Platinum. Most are strictly gameplay related.
  • There's the Breathtaking trophy, where supposedly you have to collect all items that belong to Johnny Silverhand, so this must be THE special Porsche, maybe his glasses, guitar, gun, etc - very cool and all from that moment Keanu was shown to appear in Cyberpunk 2077, turned meme = Breathtaking!

LATEST UPDATES:

  • Some German subtitled gameplay has dropped showing some more of Night City and the beautiful and busy environment. Covered on Open World Games YouTube channel. It shows how massive Night City is and how beautiful it is both in the day and the night.
  • We see some of the awesome customization features for face, hair, fingernails, and even the teeth if you fancy some blinged-out nashers!
  • We get more footage of Johnny Silverhand making an appearance - from the translation, they reckon V is finding Johnny Silverhand being there a nuisance, where Johnny is saying "let me help you".
